There are a number of metal typed flue systems, mostly constructed of varying grades of stainless steel. To the untrained eye, a lot of stainless steel flue systems will look the same, but they aren't and it is important for a suitable product selection, the differences between them are understood.

RIGID SECTIONAL, SINGLE WALLED STAINLESS STEEL FLUE SYSTEMS.

Single walled stainless steel flues can usually be used for any part of the flue that runs internally on appliances where flue gas temperatures are relatively low, around 70°C, and there is no risk of rapid cooling of combustion gasses or burn hazards from touching. Predominantly utilised on flue systems serving gas-fired condensing boilers whose internal flue runs are relatively short and where it does not breach a fire containment wall. All stainless steel single wall systems supplied by Vulcan Flue Systems will be:

  • Constructed of 316 grade stainless steel.
  • Pressure tight to 200Pa (Option to increase to 5000Pa with upgraded seals)
  • Suitable for condensing systems.
  • Temperature capable up to a minimum of 200°C
  • Installed with inter-connecting locking bands at all joints.

RIGID SECTIONAL, TWIN WALL INSULATED STAINLESS STEEL FLUE SYSTEMS.

Twin wall insulated flues have a wide range of use and come with the option of interchangeable or removable seals dependant on the flue designation requirement. Generally manufactured with a 25mm, high density insulation between the inner and outer annulus of the flue section. Insulation thickness can be increased by way of special order if required for appliances with higher flue gas temperatures to keep outer wall temperatures at an acceptable level or where long external runs of flue run the risk of rapid flue gas cooling. Also used where breaching fire containment walls.

Typically used on:

  • Atmospheric or pressure jet boilers. (Gas/oil)
  • Gas fired CHP units.
  • Diesel powered generators.
  • Biomass boilers.
  • Solid fuel fireplaces, stoves
  • Gas fired stoves and fireplaces.
  • Pizza ovens.

All stainless steel twin wall insulated flue systems supplied by Vulcan Flue Systems will be:

  • Constructed of 316 grade stainless steel inner wall and 304 grade outer wall.
  • Pressure tight to 200Pa (Option to increase to 5000Pa with upgraded seals)
  • Suitable for condensing systems.
  • Temperature capable up to a of 600°C under negative draught conditions.
  • Installed with inter-connecting locking bands at all joints.
  • Fire rated up to 4 hours.

STAINLESS STEEL FLEXIBLE CHIMNEY LINING.

Flexible flue and chimney liners are designed for the re-lining of an existing flue or chimney. These are twin skinned flexible chimney liners designed for gas, oil and multi-fuel appliances, where the maximum flue gas temperature does not exceed 600°C. At lower temperatures, flexible linings are suitable for positive pressures and condensing appliances. As standard, stainless steel flexible chimney lining are manufactured from 316 grade stainless steel but have the option of an upgrade to 904 grade stainless steel if it should ever be required. These systems are available in diameters ranging from 80 - 300mm as standard and are suitable for gas, oil and solid-fuel.

DOMESTIC TWINWALL FLUE SYSTEMS.

If you want the benefits of a DFE gas fire, Solid fuel fire or wood burning stove at home, but don’t have a chimney flue - or perhaps your fireplace isn’t exactly in the right location, a TwinWall Flue System might be the solution.

Specifically designed to exhaust combustion gases from any type of appliance where there are no existing flue in place, a TwinWall Flue System can be installed through an external wall. Twin wall rigid sectional pipe is constructed of two layers of 316 grade stainless steel which are separated by 25mm of insulation, keeping the majority of the heat inside the flue and the outside layer at a reasonable temperature making it highly efficient.
